If you are like many therapists, you encourage your clients to write journals. And sometimes they even agree to.
But then what?
Most mental health professionals concur that writing down thoughts and feelings in a notebook or on a computer screen can be a helpful adjunct to therapy. Many advocate that their clients keep journals during treatment. Yet few clinicians have learned the tools, techniques and strategies that will transform the everyday diary into a powerful therapeutic tool.
In this dynamic course, a pioneer of the therapeutic writing movement offers a concise review of the theory and evidence-based research and lasers in on best-practice methods and techniques that will transform your client’s journals of struggle and pain into powerful and effective therapeutic tools. Easy, enjoyable, effective and immediately useful!
The Center for Journal Therapy has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) as a provider of continuing education (ACEP #5782).

The workshop that started a movement!
In 1985 Kay Adams first taught this course (then called Write On!) to six friends who sat on her living room floor. Now available in a lively 6-week on-line format! You’ll learn the hows and whys of journal keeping (hint: no wrong, just write!) and 18 different writing techniques that will allow you to choose just the right write for a pesky problem, elusive solution or creative expression.
Therapists: When you complete the Journal Therapy continuing education course, why not suggest to appropriate clients that they take the client-companion course, Journal to the Self? The shared language of journal writing is invaluable in the therapeutic relationship. —Kay Adams
